Minimum wage, 2026 (IN progress)
Minimum Wage is a short film directed by Natasha R. Walker and produced in collaboration with a team of four individuals at Emily Carr University of Art & Design.
Minimum Wage depicts a night-shift waitress becoming lost in an impossibly expanding walk-in fridge beneath a diner. Can she escape before succumbing to the freezing temperatures, or before she comes face-to-face with the mysterious entity living within the freezer’s confines?

Minimum Wage is a film based on Natasha R Walker’s experience working minimum-wage kitchen jobs for the past decade. The film showcases the thanklessness of high-intensity service jobs while showcasing the occasionally liminal spaces of restaurants. The strangeness of seeing places most often heavily populated by people, startlingly empty and seemingly limitless.
This project would not be possible without the efforts of an amazing team. Animators Leo Lu, Athena Romano, and Dannah Lim. Our advisor, Woonam Kim through Emily Carr University of Art & Design. As well as our voice actor, Breanna Walker.
